Sunjya Schweig

Sunjya Schweig, MD, is a physician and researcher with three decades of experience in integrative, functional, and longevity medicine. He is the Founder and President of the California Center for Functional Medicine, where he has lead a data-driven, systems-based clinical approach to chronic illness, metabolic health, and healthspan optimization for more than a decade. His work includes developing comprehensive programs for longevity, optimal wellness, and complex chronic conditions, as well as designing occupational health and wellness initiatives for first responders.

Dr. Schweig also founded the Functional Medicine Research and Technology Center, which advances research, education, and innovation in chronic illness and preventive health. His background includes training at UC Berkeley and the UC Irvine School of Medicine, where he helped lead the development of the complementary and alternative medicine curriculum. During his residency at the UCSF Santa Rosa Family Medicine Program, he created and launched the Integrative Medicine Fellowship.

His areas of focus include hormone, microbiome, metabolic and cardiometabolic health, environmental medicine, cognitive and brain health, precision supplementation, and personalized clinical protocols. He incorporates digital health, wearables, AI-enabled clinical tools, and behavior change science into patient care, research, and program design. Dr. Schweig holds an adjunct faculty position at Touro University College of Osteopathic Medicine, has published research on botanical medicine for tickborne infections, and serves on the Scientific Advisory Board for the Bay Area Lyme Foundation. He advises startups and organizations across health, AI, and longevity, and builds strategic partnerships that connect clinical care, research, and technology.
